OFFICER'S MEETING HELD AT REGGIE'S 8/12 DONUT SHOP.
PRESENT: COMMANDER ROBERT ROWE
VICE-COMMANDER: CARL BEATTY
ADJUTANT: JOHN MARRIOTT (BETTER LATE THEN NEVER)

Items of discussion were primarily not to spend the money to mail out renewal notices from the post as National is in the process of mailing out renewals. When the members receive renewals from National, they should follow the directions and mail notice along with check to the Adjutant. In the event there are members who were not listed on National's printout, then the Post will follow up with their mailing.

Special THANKS and APPRECIATION GO TO COMMANDER ROBERT LEE ROWE for organizing and coordinating a special event for the children of the Esperanza and Amore orphanages. He had approached the Lobo del Mar and arranged for a boat trip on their boats for the kids. Total count was 18 children and 7 adults.

SPECIAL THANKS TO CAPTAIN BART OF LOBO del MAR
and their company for their generous contribution and time they gave to make this a success for the children. Without them, it would have never happened. More on this in a separate article.

There will not be any more officer's meetings the rest of the year. If something comes up, they will gather to make decisions.

Enjoy rest of the summer, think of activities that can this POST a more successful POST, and a fun POST. Bring new members and GET INVOLVED, IT IS YOUR POST YOU KNOW!!!!!!!

Adjutant

The next scheduled membership meeting will be Oct. 13, 2004 at The Patio Pub at 1830 Hours.

The Post Officers will continue to meet over the summer on the second Wednesday of the month.

One item being investigated is to take the children from the orphanage and Omar on a boat cruise. We will keep you informed on the status.

NEWSLETTER VOLUME # 1 #001
June 03,2003

This is the first of what is hoped to be a quarterly event. It is the goal of this newsletter is to advise you, the member of what has transpired and what is being planned and eventually a calendar of events.

As you are aware, the Post has closed down for the summer with plans to open the first of October, 2003. It is also planned to be open more days and longer hours. It is also hoped to be able to offer activities to entertain you. The Post as of this date for the year 2003 has 75 paid up members. Some of you may have received re-newel notices from National for the year 2003. You can either send them to the Post Adjutant with your check for the dues, or you can disregard and wait for the re-newel to ne mailed from the post here. The re-newels will be mailed the first of June in order to keep in line with National.

On the home front, you may not be aware of the propane explosion at the Costa Bravo restaurant earlier this year. Thank God, there were no fatalities but a few injured people. The Post led the charge to from a relief fund for these victims. As of this date, we have collected $9,989 Peso. Should you desire to donate to the relief fund (Not Only For These Victims) but others as well, send your donation to The Rocky Point Times, ATTENTION: American Relief Fund.

Progress is being made toward our goal of forming a Mexican Corporation and being in compliance with the country of Mexico. This has to be done in order to be able to conduct business legally. Then we will be able to obtain licenses to have functions such as bingo and protect personnel who are handling funds.

Once the Corporation has been formed, then the green light has been lit. One individual whose name I cannot mention as of now, has advised he will donate land to the American Legion Post MX 15 to construct their new Post.

A sister Legion in the States is in the process of obtaining approval to donate their shuffle board machine to the Post. We are waiting on their decision to pick it up.

Keep in mind that elections will be held in April, keeping in line with National. All offices are up for election. Please review the By-Laws and Constitution for information on the procedures. (Copies available at the Legion Post). Aware, that this is early but it will be upon us before we know it. So, keep people in mind that you would like to see running your Post. There are some people that became a little bitter over past year or so. we now have some goals and objectives laid out and a clear future going for the Post. There is a lot of potential if we can get everybody on the same bandwagon for the benefit of the Post. Everybody has something to offer. So, let's let bygones be bygones and work together for our Post.

We are looking for activities to assist us in raising funds for the Post. These funds are to help the daily operations of the Post as well as looking to the future. We want to be involved with the local community where necessary. What also is needed, is for people to step up and help with these causes.

We can only do what we have resources for and the support and help from you the members. Let's get involved and see the fruits of our efforts.

Looking forward to seeing you in October, have a safe trip.

God Bless You

Tom O'Hare
COMMANDER
