The next meeting of the Romeo J. Routhier Post No. 1 will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 1230 hours, at The Montano Steak House.
2007 MEMBERSHIP DUES
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
We have received the 2007 membership cards and therefore we are receiving 2007 membership dues. Several members of Post No. 1 have already paid.
Membership dues are $25.00 for early birds (those who pay their dues between now and Veterans Day, November 11, 2006) and $30.00 (those who pay their dues after Veterans Day.)
Your present membership is valid until December 31, 2006.
Up until now, your dues have been split in the following manner.
a.$9.00 to The National Organization
b.$9.00 to The Department of Mexico
c.$7.00 to Post No. 1 funds
The Department of Mexico has raised their portion by $2.00 to $11.00 for the 2007 membership year. Post No. 1 is going to absorb this increase without increasing dues.
The National Organization will probably raise their portion by $4.50 to go into effect on January 1, 2007. If this happens, we will have no choice but to increase the dues by $5.00.
Therefore, you can see that it is to your advantage to pay your 2007 membership dues as soon as possible. If you have any questions concerning this, give me a call.
PAID UP FOR LIFE MEMBERSHIP
If you have ever considered “Paid Up For Life” membership, now is the time to do it, before dues are increased. If we raise yearly dues by $5.00 a year, PUFL dues will increase considerably. If you want more information on this, call me.

POST NO. 1 INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Well over 50 persons (Legionnaires, wives and guests) attended American Legion Post No.1 4th of July celebration held at the Montano Steak House. Post Commander Carl West welcomed everyone and read excerpts from The Declaration of Independence of The United States of America. He then asked everyone to stand and pledge allegiance to the Flag of The United States. We even had a symbolic string of fire crackers go off to remember the old Independence Day celebrations in the U.S.
