We are pleased to tell you a bit about who we are and where we are located. As you will see from the Post Directory, the Department of Mexico extends far beyond México. At present, we are located in México and five Central American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Panama. We are presently organizing new Posts in El Salvador, Honduras, and Panama.

The American Legion is a service organization formed of men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during time of war. (Click to see eligibility dates.) We are dedicated to serving our comrades in distress, the widows and orphans of our fallen comrades, and our communities.

For those of us who live outside the USA, we understand that when we speak of "the community, state, and nation" we mean our host countries as well as the country we served proudly as members of the Armed Forces.  A more complete statement of "what we are about" can be found below in the Preamble to the Constitution of The American Legion.

This site will always be "Under Construction"; it is designed to be a dynamic site presenting up-to-date information concerning veterans' issues and the activities being realized by the Department and its individual Posts. The webmaster may be responsible for actually posting this information, but he depends upon the Department's membership for the actual input. Together we can have a great site.
